History & culture
Qixing Main Peak is the highest peak in Taipei City and a remarkable example of Taiwan's volcanic landscape. Its distinctive cone was formed by ancient volcanic activity, while nearby attractions such as Xiaoyoukeng, Dayoukeng, Menghuan Lake, and Lengshuikeng showcase fumaroles, hot springs, and other geothermal features.
The mountain also displays two contrasting ecosystems: the wind-exposed northern slope is covered with silvergrass and dwarf bamboo, while the sheltered southern slope supports lush subtropical forests rich in biodiversity. In autumn, blooming silvergrass transforms the mountainside into one of Yangmingshan's most iconic seasonal landscapes.
