History & culture

Datun Mountain is part of the Datun Volcano Group, the largest volcanic area in Yangmingshan National Park. Formed by volcanic activity hundreds of thousands of years ago, it helped shape the landscapes of northern Taiwan.

Today, visitors can still observe volcanic features such as grass-covered slopes, geothermal activity, and sulfur-rich environments throughout the region.

The mountain is also a popular spot for sunsets, seas of clouds, and night views. Summer brings colorful butterflies, while autumn transforms the slopes with fields of silvergrass.
